Modern Life Without Computers
The 21st century is one of the most advanced centuries. A world without computers is not that long ago. Now, nearly everything involves computers and technology. It would be difficult to imagine this era without computers. Modern life would definitely not be the same. Some people would not even be able to communicate without them.
The Internet acts as a shield in which one can hide their true identity. Yes, a person can put all of their personal characteristics and be very open to the people on the Internet, but unless you plan on spending your entire life speaking to people through social networking sites, then you will never really break out of your shell. I used to be a very shy person when I was younger and I did not hide behind a desk to further enhance my shyness. Instead, I took it upon myself to reach out to people, and I slowly overcame my shyness. If someone has the ability to hide behind something to prevent him or her from facing their fears, than they will take that chance. In my opinion, social networking sites diminish a person’s social skills in the real world. I view face-to-face interactions as a practice for presentations. A person can develop a more articulate form of speaking; learn how to speak in particular situations, and one can even develop charisma.
A computer is merely a devised you to make our lives easier. Although there are millions of tasks a computer can perform, a computer can never think, nor express emotions. If we try to make technology represent who we are, then we will not know how to behave without the bright, electron mass in front of us, at all times. E-mail and social networking sites prevent people from developing substantial relationships because it is simple to pose as someone or something you aren’t and it enhances shyness. It is unhealthy for humans to interact with one another through technology because if it were to fail us, the world would consist of walking zombies.
Good Driver
There are many aspects that come with driving. You have to be alert at all times. Driving does not only require self-awareness, but it also requires you to be extremely cautious of other drivers. Personally, I do not drive so the majority of the information I know about being behind the wheel is based on my experiences in the passenger’s seat. I have driven a couple of times. The experience was a bit nerve wrecking and it was somewhat difficult to keep in mind that I have to watch out for everyone else, as well as myself. The qualities a good driver should possess are alertness, patience, awareness, and experience.
First and foremost, a person should not be driving without a permit or a license. A driver should never consume alcohol before or while they are driving. If someone does plan on drinking while they are out, they should ask someone who has not consumed any alcohol to drive them home. You constantly have to be aware of your surroundings. Unfortunately, you must look out for everyone, as well as yourself. A good driver should never drive far above or far below the speed limit. A good driver should always look for stop signs or try to outrun the light.
Social Interactions
Many us spend hours in front of our computer and communicate more by e-mail or instant messaging than in person. Some people believe that this is good because it helps shy people communicate more openly with others. Others believe that computer communication prevents us from developing interpersonal skills and limits our ability to have meaningful relationships with others. How do you feel about this issue? Use specific reasons and examples to support your position.

Social networking websites are not only limited to the country or area that you may live in. The Internet reaches well over one million people around the world. With that being said, it is uncertain if the person you are communicating with, is who they claim to be. It is simple to claim someone else’s identity online because there are no questions that verify one’s true identity, on social networking websites. For example, on the popular website Myspace, ordinary people often create profiles in which they claim to be a celebrity. Sexual predators often make profiles that appeal to young women by lying about their age, looks, and even claim personal characteristics that they do not posses. How can a person develop better social skills if they are secure in speaking to a person that may or may not be who they say they are? What differentiates face-to-face encounters from online encounters is that you are certain that what you see is what you get.

How You Have Helped Me
What is the definition of a hero? Most of us may think of someone with supernatural powers, but the definition of a hero is much broader than what we may think. Sometimes a hero can be a person that lives next door, your local family member or even a family member. It is possible to have more than one hero. Unfortunately, not everyone has a person that they can look up to that is near by. The next best thing is an influential person in the public eye. For this reason, I feel that a celebrity should always maintain a decent image because they are influencing millions of people, whether they realize it or not. Although the performer that I admire is very groundbreaking and vulgar, my reason for admiring him is much deeper than what most people would consider. Eminem has overcome many obstacles and used them to build a bridge to success.
According to his songs, Eminem had a very rough childhood. He had an absent father and an inadequate mother. In the midst of all of this, he took a liking to rap music, but many people underestimated him because of the color of his skin. He did not allow the negativity to stop him from making his dreams come true. Eminem does not care about how other people perceive him and will say what is on his mind. Because of Eminem, I know that I must catch all the obstacles that anyone may place in front of me, and produce something wonderful our of it.
Eminem has definitely motivated me to continue to strive and climb the ladder of success. He used to be the underdog and now he is one of the leaders of the pack. Although he grew up and had to deal with harsh circumstances, he did not let his past, become his future.

The Cause I Support
Some people are actively involved in promoting and supporting a cause, such as the release of international political prisoners or protecting the environment. Is there a cause you actively support? Write an essay convincing readers to support that cause
As an American citizen and a human being, I am a firm believer in the Bill of Rights. I support the Bill of Rights and most aspects of the Constitutions because it protects the rights of the American people. The United States Constitution is a document that ensures the rights and liberties of the American people. A right that I consider to hold great importance in any society is privacy, which is addressed in Amendment IV. Amendment IV states “The right of the people to be secure in the persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the person or thing to be seized.” (The United States Constitution) Basically, Amendment IV protects the American people from irrational searches of their home and documentation, without precedent. Unfortunately, this amendment is no longer in affect, due to the USA PATRIOT Act, which was created after the events of 9/11. In my opinion, this Act is extremely unconstitutional and should be abolished. Amendment IV should be reinstated.
Privacy is something that I consider an inalienable right. To my understanding, this is a right that an American citizen no longer has. The government can look through private and important documents and search your possessions, without probable or lawful cause. Some people may feel that taking such action is necessary to ensure our safety, but I believe that it gives people a reason to be fearful of the government, which is absolutely absurd. In the words of V “People should not be afraid of their governments. Governments should be afraid of their people.” The disregard of Amendment IV is symbolic for what is to come. Establishing an act that is in complete opposition of the Constitution is like shredding the Constitution, in front of America. I cannot speak for others, but it gives me an uneasy feeling knowing that the document that this country was founded on to protect us is becoming void and that I can be under close watch at any point in time.

What Is Special About Me
Sierra is probably one of the most common names on the planet. But, Sierra Lavon Henderson is probably one of the most interesting Sierras that you’ll meet. That would be me. Underneath my shy and somewhat serious exterior, lies an ambitious girl with a lot of heart, smarts, and dreams that are larger than life. I never really considered myself to be an extremely complex person. However, I do feel that there is more to me than most people may think. You know what they say, don’t judge a book by its cover.
My skin complexion is like that of a Hershey’s Kiss. Not too dark and not too light. I am a 5’2, which I consider to be average height. But, I’m shorter than just about everyone in my class, so I suppose my height isn’t that average. If you were to past me by, you’d probably smell a fragrance similar to cologne. I must assure you that it is a very strong fragrance given off from my Oro Gold Body Butter. It also makes my skin soft and smooth. I wear square-frame glasses that have always managed to sit on the end of nose, since I was a small child. My body is just the shell that holds my most important components; my heart and soul.
When most people look at me one word always comes to mind; nerd. Which I suppose is true. I am an intelligent girl who takes school very seriously and works very hard in everything I do. After all, success is only attainable through hard work, dedications, and drive. When it comes to something that I truly want, I put my all into it. I am a very kind- hearted person, who is always thinking about the well being of others. Kindness can feel like a blessing and a curse because some may take your kindness for weakness. Ever since I was a child, I’ve had this huge desire to make the world a better place for everyone. I enjoy improving the lives of others in any way possible. I believe that if you can make a difference, you should. Everyone has a helping hand to lend. I’m just a kind-hearted girl who wants to heal the world.
My main goal in life is not to pursue happiness, but to achieve it. As far as high school, I would like to become senior president and class valedictorian. I think that I am on the right track of reaching the goal of valedictorian. On a more personal level, one goal that won’t be so easy to achieve is raising my self-esteem. I know that doing so will help me build my confidence and how I perceive myself in general. The list of all my goals for life would probably exceed 5 pages. There is so much that life has to offer and life is too short to limit yourself.
Basically, I’m a small person with a big heart, a lot of smarts, and dreams that are larger than life. The world is filled with so many opportunities and I plan on seizing all of them. There is an endless amount of things to learn and I plan on learning everything I can. Always remember that your body doesn’t define you; your mind does.
